Where AxoWatch is different
You keep the SDK you already have. AxoWatch accepts events from the official Sentry SDKs. To try it, you replace the DSN in your config, and your Sentry.init code stays as it is. Errors are grouped, you see how many people hit each one, and the alert arrives with the line that broke, the request and what happened just before.
Errors next to the rest of the site. Sentry watches your code from the inside. AxoWatch also walks your site from the outside: it replays recorded flows such as sign-up, login, a contact form or checkout in a real browser, checks uptime and SSL for every important page, scores page speed every day and watches cron jobs. When a flow fails, the error your app threw during that run is attached to the step that broke.
The price doesn't grow with usage either. Each AxoWatch plan has a fixed price with error tracking, uptime, flows, page speed, cron monitoring, a status page and AI fix tasks included. There is nothing to add per monitor or per developer.
Where Sentry is stronger
Sentry is the better choice when debugging depth matters more than watching the whole site.
- Much more than errors. Performance tracing, session replay, profiling, logs and release health. AxoWatch links each error to its trace and shows the breadcrumbs before it, but it has no performance traces, replay or profiling. If you rely on those, keep Sentry for them.
- More errors for the money. Team includes 50,000 errors and unlimited users at $26 a month billed annually. On AxoWatch, 50,000 errors a month come with Pro at $49.
- Uptime from several locations. Sentry rotates uptime checks between locations. AxoWatch checks from one location for now.
- Seer can open the pull request itself through its GitHub or GitLab app. AxoWatch prepares the task, and your own agent writes the fix.
- Maturity. Sentry has been the default error tracker for years, with SDKs and integrations for nearly every stack.
Other Sentry-compatible tools: GlitchTip and Bugsink
AxoWatch isn't the only service that accepts the Sentry SDK.
GlitchTip is open source. You can run it on your own server or use the hosted version: free up to 1,000 events a month, $15 a month for up to 100,000. It also pings your site, checks heartbeats and shows slow requests.
Bugsink is built to be self-hosted and is free that way. Its hosted version starts free at 15,000 events a month for one user, then €16 a month for 75,000.
Both are cheaper per error than AxoWatch. Pick them if error tracking is all you need. Pick AxoWatch if you also want recorded user flows, Lighthouse scores and a status page without running anything yourself. AxoWatch is hosted only: there is no self-hosted version.
Pricing compared
AxoWatch has one price per plan: Free ($0, 1 site, no card), Starter ($19/month, 3 sites), Pro ($49/month, 10 sites), Agency ($149/month, 30 sites). A year costs 10 months. Error events per month: 10,000 on Free, 25,000 on Starter, 50,000 on Pro and 250,000 on Agency.
Sentry's Developer plan is free for one user with 5,000 errors. Team is $26 a month and Business $80 a month when billed annually with the default prepaid volume; both include 50,000 errors. Errors above that are billed as you go. Every Sentry plan includes one uptime monitor and one cron monitor; each extra uptime monitor is $1.00 and each extra cron monitor $0.78. Seer, the AI debugging agent, is $40 per active contributor a month.
An example: a store watches 20 pages for uptime and runs 5 cron jobs. On Sentry Team that is the plan plus 19 extra uptime monitors and 4 cron monitors, about $48 a month before Seer. On AxoWatch Starter ($19) all of that fits in the plan, together with 3 recorded flows and page speed for 20 pages.
How to switch from Sentry
- Create a free AxoWatch account, add your site and copy its DSN from the error tracking setup page.
- Put that DSN where your app reads it today, for example
SENTRY_DSN or SENTRY_LARAVEL_DSN in .env. For browser code the DSN is usually built into the bundle, so redeploy. - Trigger a test error and check that it shows up in AxoWatch.
- Record your key flows with the Chrome extension and add the pages you want watched for uptime.
- A safe way to try it: point staging or one service at AxoWatch first, keep production on Sentry for a week, then decide.
